Workshop objectives
The 1st Workshop of the Moroccan Chitin and Chitosan Group (GMC²) aims to bring together, for the first time, Moroccan and international researchers, PhD students, industry players and institutional stakeholders involved in the sustainable upcycling of chitin, chitosan and other biopolymers derived from marine and terrestrial bioresources.
The meeting will pursue several objectives:
- Present the results of the AQUA’MAR project;
- Map the expertise and infrastructure available in Morocco for chitin derivatives;
- Identify scientific, technological and industrial priorities for the coming years;
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration between universities, research centres and companies;
- Officially launch the Moroccan Chitin and Chitosan Group (GMC²);
- Stimulate the emergence of new national and international projects.

The workshop is intended for:
- Researchers and lecturer-researchers working on chitin, as well as on industrial symbiosis or the circular economy in Morocco;
- PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and Master’s students;
- Companies active in these fields;
- Public institutions, funding agencies and decision-makers;
- Professional associations and innovation clusters;
- International partners interested in developing the chitin and chitosan sector in Morocco.
